History - 2007 LTZ Z71 Crew Cab with 5.3 L LH6. Found out at one point during ownership that I had 5.3 L lower end and 6.0 L top end heads and intake by accident when dealer sold me wrong throtle body, after VIN research the dealer told me i had a late model 07 that GM put the 6.0 top end on. After 215000K miles and the day after Christmas (literally) she finally shut down oil pressure on me. I have had this truck since it had 35 miles on it and instead of spending another 45K on a new one I decided to spend the money to rebuild this one. The reason for my sharing this with all of you is I have not been able to find any info on anyone else doing complete overhaul on an 07 LH6 to date. So in an effort to reduce the stress that has been involved with this new endevor and share my experience with those of you that would appreciate it (as my wife does not - she told me to trade in at 100K). I wanted to perform an experiment of my own to see how far can I push this limit of original motor but changed oil every 3-5K, my job requires travel of 150 miles a day so i changed myself every month. For the record I still had the original spark plugs and original transmission with no repairs of any kind other than oil changes period. Which is why I swore to rebuild and bring back to life. This has been one of the best trucks I have ever owned and in speaking with mechanics and machinists this is about the max I should have expected and all were surprised the motor went before the transmission, of which I only serviced two times in the entire life of this truck. When I lost oil pressure I was paying attention so I shut her down before any major damage took place.
