I took my truck in at about 6000 miles because the transmission would hang in second gear occasionally when I would get on it to merge with traffic. Later on it changed a little and would occasionally hang at slower speeds. I went back many times, and duplicated the problem for the service manager and captured the problem on the computer monitor. After 14 months or so of going back I was told that GM had decided that it worked within limits. I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Within 2 weeks GM changed their mind and decided to change the Valve Body on the transmission. It works great now.
I don't know if anyone else has ever had this problem with their transmission but if so, the Valve Body was the problem.
I wish GM had handled the problem with out me having to file a complaint but it was reasureing to see how fast they reacted after I did.

{Delurking} Actually I do have an issue with my 2002 Sierra, it does hang seemingly in second gear, I've been back many times to the dealer and they have reprogrammed, reprogrammed again, reporgrammed once more (to remove the stupid shift points they put in place to supposedly fix things) and still it is un predicitable as to when it will occur. But there are times where I can come to a full stop, go to pull away and truck just revs and continues to rev before it pulls away slowly at somewhere around 2K RPM, it shudders and if you really get into it it picks up enough speed and behaves normally. You can also come to a complete stop again and restart and it will act normal. I got tired of the arguing, I have an extended warranty but I initially complained at about 6K to 7k miles that shifting was rough on occassion and would move from 1-2 to 2-3, either way whatever was rough going up was rough coming down and would not seem to be in first gear on some starts. At any rate those are the only complaints, other than not having uniform paint coverage at one corner of the truck's hood (of course dealer can't see the difference), they tranny is a problem, sets no codes and dealers dragazz day in day out not fixing issues, heck you'd think they were spending their own money.
I know noone asked but the Chevy styling (along with Cadillac's) has gotten hideous, give me the GMC products any day.
