  2. NewDude Thank you for your reply ! As your more than aware of my many threads concerning the 2500 HD I thought I would just pose a few questions regarding the Silverado 1500 or GM 1500 with the 3.0 Diesel . As stated in my first post in this thread one of my friends has mentioned to look into the above . I would not want any of the gas options with a 1500 due to the active fuel management and I believe the start stop fuel saver . So it would be the diesel in a 1500 . We don't have a trailer yet but I would expect something along the 23 foot length . We would be using it as much as we could once my wife retires in year not every weekend though . The 2500 HD is quite a larger truck than a 1500 so she might be a bit put off by the size . She' going to have to drive both and feel them out . Also considering the short box I would like the option to be able to stretch out in the back and sleep if I'm going solo on tent trip .
  3. My wife's company car (BMW 330i) uses CarPlay and goes full screen and really like it. I think it looks much cleaner. I too would love for screen to be full screen when I'm either listening to the radio or have my phone connecting and playing music. I do like the split screen at times when I'm on a road trip and need music on one side and Waze on the other but if I'm just around town and don't need a map I would like for the music display to be full screen.
  4. Appreciate the input and I'm glad you compared them to the 5100s. I have ran the 5100s on several previous HDs and on my current HD and current 1/2 ton and I have always thought they were a little too stiff. I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and give the Fox 2.5s a shot! I shouldn't have much preload on them as well since they will be going on an AT4 and set at 1.5" of lift. Realistically my truck is 90% highway miles (drive a ton for work) and 10% offroad so I'm glad to hear you like the street ride of the Fox coilovers.
  5. No free lunch. However like removes like in chemistry. The fuel additives are gunking up our DI engine oil control rings and backside of valves.

  7. I liked the 5100's, but I love the Fox's. The DCA's help a ton. im on 2 clicks in on both high and low speed and it rides great on the street. Have not had a chance to get out and play yet in the dirt. But street wise its soft than the 5100's but still settles quick like they did. I barely have any preload on them, so im sure thats helping also.
  8. When i turn the truck off it does sound like the fan was running hard as I can hear it power down more than I normally would. Makes sense. Considering the amount of rain storms I've been driving through lately maybe it is water related. I'm glad it is just this. When the check engine light came on my first thought was "this truck isn't even a year old whats happening?".
  9. Marketplace score. All brand new parts with zero miles. Taken off at the dealership to put the 6 piston kit on.
  10. My thoughts would be to stick with the higher end oils with known ester/AN content for greater solvency.
  11. Had this happen a few weeks ago. You're fine to drive, but your cooling fans will be on full blast (the computers can't figure out if the shutters are open or closed). There is a TSB on this. There's a wire that can get pinched and/or water in a connector. It was less than an hour labor.
  12. Just wanted to add that the "recall" did not apply to all Silverados and Sierras, only to ones that had been initially registered in certain states. Since mine was initially registered in a state that wasn't subject to recall, I couldn't have it fixed under the recall. I didn't feel like paying to have something "fixed" that I really have no use for. That along with the possibility of having to pay for replacement shattered window didn't really appeal to me. The fuse pull was free and it doesn't get any cheaper than that. Having ability to open rear window was way more important to me and that is not affected as it's handled by a fuse on a separate circuit.
  13. Are the UCAs different on the ZR2 vs all the others? I could never get a solid answer. Some people said they were all the same while the others have said the standard suspension and TB/AT4 were the same but the ZR2 was different. I've tried looking up part numbers online but most of them don't have them listed for '23's and up. I'm guessing they are the same because the TB/AT4 kit doesn't come with new UCAs and since that kit is "required" to get the DSSV kit, the DSSV kit doesn't come with new UCAs either. I have the TB suspension but now thinking about adding some coilovers for about a 1" level and would need to do UCAs at the same time. I'd also love to find a set of used DSSVs as I'm not paying retail for them. If I can go with stock ZR2 upper arms vs aftermarket, that's the route I'd like to go to keep everything GM for warranty purposes.
  14. I didn't have dealer remove mine, I removed it myself as a precaution for this very reason. I have driven trucks for decades and can count on one hand the number of times I wished for or needed defrost on rear windows. I am one that if a vehicle came with a particular option, I expect it to work. But after seeing all the others that had problems with shattered, exploded rear windows, I'd rather not deal with it.
  15. Thats what makes me think they got messed up some how.
  16. Thanks for the updated link, just curious is that $5 per cable so $40 for the job I need to do, or is it $5 for what i see in the picture lol (one is a lot easier to explain to the wife)

  18. Alright so this is what I have been able to find out about Restore and Protect. I was able to speak to someone in the industry who is friends with a guy that left Valvoline a bout a year ago. He asked him about this product. In a nutshell: "I asked both of them about it, the short answer is no. The long answer is they’re playing around with the detergent / dispersant mix. By reacting propoxylated amines with different organic acids you can change the results here and there. Overall, it’s not anything different from any other major is doing. And by doing it, you can still give your AW plating issues. As that’s the bigger picture thing here. Of course, I don’t think anything will come of it. But think about it this way: The more Detergent you have, with their polar head on the surfaces, the less space you have for AW package plating on the surface. This is why oil additive chemistry is always a balance / trade off. You just can’t load up with AW, otherwise you’ll get corrosion and varnish build up, along with a fast oxidation. If you load up with DI, you’ll have increase wear because you won’t have the plating affect. Etc."
  19. I merely changed the set of tires from 275 55 R22 to 275 60 R20 (due to driving on rough roads) and the tire shop said that will be 2.something % smaller diameter (a closer one would be a 65 wall = 0.7%) anyways; the super cruise does work sometimes but not as much as it is with stock size tires I also asked GMC if I can lift it, I got the same answer as the GM rep answer above it comes down to this I guess; is your SC picking up on the same roads before and after the lift? Or it is picking up on some roads?
  20. I bet it does, damn! did you do the work yourself or have a shop do it?
  21. News said price increase due to "summer formulation" and they expect the price to continue to rise until mid June, Average price in the state $3.59 according to AAA. Summer formulation, Oxygenated in the winter, you would think it would balance out
