I am going to be putting a pair of Hella 500's behind the grill of my 2007 silverado 3500hd. I want to keep them protected and out of the way. I am also converting them to HID, do a lot of back road driving. I am testing putting them behind the grill so I don't have to cover/uncover them.

I have been looking at the grilles on the same model year GMCs and they seem to have more open space and without the solid bar in the middle. Will that grill swap onto my chevy? I assume it would, but you know what happens when you assume. I dont care about the badging, I want it to work.

It is a 2007 new body style.

thanks

Not too sure that a GMC grille will bolt up. But check out the below link. There is plenty of room to add some 6" lights behind the grille.

The two are not interchangeable. You would need everything doors forward new. Sorry.

Yeah, thanks.

The black truck is kind of how I am going to mount them, the same tabs at least.

I am using threaded rod and a double female coupling to attach to the bolt on the light. That way I can fine tune the height to the millimeter.

I am going to mount them all up and see how blocked the light is. Worst comes to worst I can get a expanded sheet metals style or wire mesh type grill. They seem to be the same price as the GMC grille anyways.

I wanted to do my HIDs this way so I don't have to screw around with the daytime running lights and sensors.
I guess I should take some pics as the process goes along. Just waiting for the HID kit to come in the mail.
