    • The passenger side tube is the "fresh air" line allowing clean, metered air a path into/out of the engine.  It is not a "foul air" line letting blowby out of the engine.  There is much higher vacuum after the throttle plate than inside the resonator box.  It might be interesting to see what you catch in a can on that line, but I'd be surprised if it's the same stuff as you catch on the driver's side tube.   Can makers are always happy to show the pics of X tablespoons of nasty liquid collected in Y miles.  But there is never any indication of how many MORE tablespoons of stuff weren't captured in those Y miles.  Does a can have an effect on what gets sucked back into the intake?  Yes.  Does it have a meaningful effect? Ehhhh.....   As far as engineering/science based insight into the need/effectiveness of catch cans, this technical research summary is a very interesting read.   Considerations on Carbon Deposit Formation in Gasoline Direct Injection Engine   The conclusions of the study basically indicate: intake valve carbon deposit formation is worse under lighter load than heavy (counterintuitive to blowby being a primary cause) it is not related to blowby gasses in the intake (ah hah!, which as part of the testing were completely blocked off from entering the intake) indications are oil degradation is contributing, potentially due to effects in the combustion chamber, which at light load can and will see chamber gasses circulate back out of and into open valves during an intake cycle (reversion) In other words, catch cans don't help.  Instead change your synthetic oil frequently.   But if adding a can helps you sleep better, then by all means.  Or add two.  The presence of a few tablespoons of nasty looking liquid in Y miles doesn't mean that liquid was your only problem.
    • Experienced the transmission shudder and had the tranny fluid changed in early Dec '23 with 43k miles. It rode like a dream for about 1,000 miles but is back to it's old trick. Just talked to dealership who said my Powertrain Warranty expired two weeks ago and it needs a torque converter for a truck that has 45,000 miles.  I am so f'ing mad I promise you I will never buy another Chevy and do everything in my power save my friends from a similar nightmare. Did I mention it was a $66,000 truck in 2019 and this is what I get...Has anyone had any success appealing to GM customer relations on this issue?
    • I dont know the numbers or the circumstances on the ones that are using oil. I do know that other GM engines I have had my hands on have greatly reduced consumption just by changing brands of oil. I dont have any evidence but my WAG would be the additive pack may have been better suited to the vehicle with the new oil.
    • How do winter tires perform in mud? I have never considered them. I was lead to believe winter tires were for hi-way use.     During calving we can have dry times and then snow 2 foot deep, 4 days later it melts and it's a mud bog in the pasture. ATV's don't always cut it and they don't work well hauling a calf to a heat lamp. I know the answer, but I don't own horses.
    • GM/The dealer will be of no help.  GM did not offer an approved factory retrofit for RPO code "CPO" trucks as they are built with the MyLink 2.0 hardware/software and not the MyLink 2.5 hardware/software that had CarPlay/Android Auto in it.  They cannot program the 2.5 hardware to work.     Your only course of action is an HMI from WAMS.  2016 (Only) Android Auto / Apple CarPlay Upgrade / Retrofit - White Automotive & Media Services (whiteautoandmedia.com)   Per WAMS, CPO trucks only need the HMI module.  They do NOT need a new radio so you can return/sell that.     If you are looking for factory nav, they have an IO5 to IO6 upgrade as well - GM Factory IO6 Navigation Upgrade / Retrofit (HMI Based Applications) - White Automotive & Media Services (whiteautoandmedia.com)
