Hey oh custom tuning gurus and fellow forum members of great knowledge. I am going with a custom tune not a matter of which one just when. Question I understand the tuning on the FLY like what justin does at a tuning session. My question is I am really wanting to get tuned for the towing of my big gooseneck trailer and tractors. I tend to have concerns about that engine load and detonation. Granted I do run quality (hopefully good quality) 93 gas. There is roughly 1900 pounds or more of pin weight on my truck. Not to much more then that I know. The only differences is how much clay or mud is caked up on the tractors. So here is my thought. Would it be beneficial to load the bed of my truck up with lead weight say around 1500 pounds or so when I get tuned. My thought is they could better tune it for the load with the weight in the bed. The PCM will produce more accurate numbers with that kind of weight on it. Is that correct. I have some friends with pulling trucks that have enough weight to do this. I could put in one of there REMOVABLE weight boxes in the bed that way the tuner could see what the load is doing and how the computer is adjusting. Could the tuner maybe do things different with the iginition timing and fuel tables if they could see what the load is actually doing. Thoughts opinions ideas.

I would say bring the trailer to the tune. I believe it has been asked before and if towing performance is what your looking to tune for then you would need to get close to the actual conditions. You need to email Justin and ask.

Ding Ding Ding...Winner

Seriously, I would email Justin or Jenna and ask. Get it straight from the horses mouth.

I don't think it would be a bad idea to have it loaded. If you can, get it as close to the conditions the truck will be under as possible. But that is just my opinion. A tuner may know what adjustments to make without the extra load??

Well I know the pin weight on the truck is usually around 1500 pounds even as much as 1900. And instead of hauling that big trailer everywhere just load the bed up with lead weight. Weight is weight. Lead weights off a pulling truck is what they would be in a 2x2 metal pan. To give you an idea this is one fo the tractors the truck sees quite a bit. About 10,500 pounds of excavator there. That my last dually its connected to it that pic.
