Hey guys... thinking of putting a cap on my truck and was thinking some feedback from you guys would be helpful! Seems to me there all about the same, a fibreglass mold with windows and a door.
Thanks

A cap can look good on a pickup, a tonneau cover is another popular option. As for caps, the quality and fit can really vary from make to make, as can the available styles and colours. A cap isn't something you'd want to go cheap on.

Pretty sure this is going to be my next mod too. Probably not this year though.
I will sell my bed rails, but will most likely keep my Access Toneau cover so I can have the option of swapping.

I was thinking tonneau cover too but decided against it, for all those trips to the cottage, fishing and camping it would be nice to have a place to put the wife... er DOG in the back! So I will be looking for a good cap, the Raiders seem nice as do the Leers

I have a LEER cap on my truck, very pleased with it. Not cheap, but fits right and it's painted to match.

I have had mixed luck with LEER... My 85 Toyota's LEER cap was great never a problem. The LEER cap I have now is a different story. I ordered the top of the line 100XQ. The cap leaked like crazy. Even if it would be a heavy dew I would get water in around the windows and the front of the cap. Kind of defeted the purpose of the cap. After three trips back to the dealer (an hour from my house) I finaly convinced them to replace the cap. The new cap is like night and day. I rarely every see water in the back now.

I love the cap on my truck. I actually never wanted a cap, but the truck I really wanted already had it...I was planning on selling it after buying...But like I said...I love the thing.
It's a Leer, and has the optional carpet liner. I added the Bedrug to complete the look in there.
It's AWESOME.

I like the looks of this cap with the full frameless tinted side window. Liking the looks of the full carpeting in the back too, wife... er dog would be pretty comfy back there!
I hope to get out this weekend to check some out.

Sorry, off-topic, but that's a great looking truck

Pics of my Cap... Bought it for the roof rack and the Dog... Makes traveling/camping much easier. Since we will be upgrading to a 5th wheel soon my new Sierra will just have another roll-up cover.

Another sweet looking Leer! Truck looks great man. I agree, having the cap means I dont need to worry about the weather for the fishing/camping trips! I suppose I could always throw stuff in totes & tie em down... but that would make look like im a homeless redneck

Now that sh!ts funny... I don't care what anybodys says!
I know the feeling... Packing two kids the wife and all of our crap for a week in OBX made me feel just that way. Weather proof totes stacked in the bed and a big cooler strapped to the hitch platform. The cap has made traveling much easier. One major drawback is visibility. Seeing out the back window at night is a pain in the A$$. Good Luck!

I know what you mean man! Until I started looking around a bit I had no idea how many different variations and options were available.

Did you ever decide on one?

Wow, just wow...Where to start here. I don't think you could be further from the truth if you tried.
I am not 90 nor am I about to croak (god willing) but my truck is having a cap installed as we speak as part of a wheelchair conversion. I bought my truck because I did not want an SUV. Been there done that and it did not work for me, and i darn sure did not want a minivan at 25. anyone else think his using a truck as a truck sounds a lot like owning a "truckers truck" commercial from another thread. Maybe we don't use the truck in the way everyone thinks is correct, but as long as we are buying them and supporting our favorite american auto maker then i say so freakin what!

I bought my truck off my parents and they put an MPulse cap on it years and years ago. Still looks damn good. In better shape than the trucks body! Never leaked. and again...not a cheap brand haha. Im getting rid of it though. IMO a truck isnt a truck if it has a cap. BUT HEY! To each their own as I say.

ARE Z-series caps one of the best looking and well made caps I've seen. I've had both LEER and ARE and I felt the ARE was a little better quality. But... they come with a heavy price. I'm actually looking for one myself. But won't pay new.. so I'll be patient.
Good luck.
