On the way to the car meet tonight I did some ricer roll racing against a 2003 Reg Cab Short Bed 2wd 5.7 Ram. The first 2 runs were @ 65 & 70. The first run he got the jump big time, and I pulled to his front bumper and let off at the end of 2nd gear. 2nd run we left at the same time and his front bumper was at my rear bumper shortly after I shifted into 3rd probably around 90. The third race was from 50 mph, both leaving at the same time. At the end of 2nd (85? mph) I had half a length to a length. All races were done on an abandoned highway in Mexico. His best time at the track is a 14.69 I believe @ 92 stock truck, with a 2.1 short time.

Definitely, I was pulling on him every race, just not that fast! That truck definitely has balls!! I kind of expected what happened, he's only 3-4mph slower in the 1/4, his extra cubes and TQ are kind of trumped by his weight, so the extra little bit of HP/tune and less weight I had ftw!

edit: I had no idea reg cab short bed 2wd Hemi's ran 14.6's stock? Aren't they like 14.8-15.1ish?? I dig raced a Rumble Bee a long time ago and held my own. He spun off the line some but he never caught up? SCT doesn't make tuners for those trucks until 04...unless he has a superchips hand held...He has a 12 second Fox body and a Big Block Jr dragster, I don't see him keeping this thing stock.

Mike are you sure about those times? Because a Tundra 5.7 runs in the 14.6-14.8 range stock and I know a stock Dodge Hemi is not running with a Tundra.

RCSB Tundra's are in the lower 14's stock. The crew cab 4x4's are probably high 14's. The 5.7 Ram I raced was the same configuration as mine, RCSB 2wd. I don't think it should run 14.69's stock either though, so he's probably got a hand held or something he's keeping secret.

You may want to see how bad you can beat the old gray haired Grandpa, in the 2.5 ton Cadillac, with the itty bitty 4.6, before you jump on the 6.2 Denali.

Lets be fair, the caddy wins that battle because of power/weight.

The Caddy is only 292 HP with a 4.6L engine and weighs almost 4700 lbs.
He may out weigh me a LITTLE, but he has more motor and it is tuned.

I wouldn't bet a lot on it either way. I think it may be pretty close.

Yeah, but Darky's truck out runs the caddy.

btw- everywhere I look the dry curb weight of a DTS is 4000lbs.

The very first time we did it, both of us were bone stock.
From about a 50 roll, I could pull him about 1 length till he hit his speed limiter at 100.

Then he got the Diablo Predator...and I was still bone stock.
And it was before I had the speed limiter removed.
We started at about a 50 roll.
He slowly pulled me till I hit the speed limiter at 123 MPH.
At that time he was about 2 or 3 lengths ahead of me.
When I hit the limiter...he was GONE.

With both of them STOCK...I could pull him about 1 length.
And with the Caddy STOCK...and Darkanion with the Diablo tune...he could pull me a couple of lengths.

The Diablo tune made about 3 or 4 length difference in his truck from 50 to 123.

We haven't tried since Justin worked on both of them.
His transmission has been flaky and we were waiting on that to get fixed right before running again.

Yeah...thats DRY WEIGHT...but add gas, oil, junk in the trunk, my 200 lbs, etc etc etc.

My title weight says 4200 even.
I had it weighed at a truck stop..with me in it and a half tank of gas.
4670 lbs.

I have a 2002 Tahoe with 4.10's and a 5.3L, I tried to get past a Hemi Cherokee my guess a 2005 or newer in the passing lanes between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe going up hill.

That Cherokee could run, it has 3 people in it and I had just me. I am bone stock but it runs good.

When we both punched off side by side I was sure I would pass him but we ran dead even for more than a 1/4 mile with a 55mph start speed. Yeah we probably broke the posted limit but I backed off and he went out of the passing lane ahead.

I am still a little surprized I did not pull him.
