  1. Smoke on start up on my 09 Tahoe at 50,000 miles is where my troubles began. I believe the dealer cleaned the engine out per GM instruction. A couple of months later at startup I had no oil pressure. The dealer said it was a spun bearing and they replaced the engine under warranty. I think it had to do with AFM myself.
  2. I have an 09 Silverado 1500 regular cab WT that I put an LT jump seat in. How can I wire the 12V outlet so that it is only on when the key is in the run position?
  3. My 2009 Silverado 1500 4X4 4L60E W/T just started making a noise that sounds like it is coming from the transfer case. It is a noise like knocking on each revolution. I can only hear it when I am accelerating from about 10 mph to 45 mph. Above that road noise might drown it out. I checked the fluid level and it is okay. Any idea what this could be? Also, how do I know what transfer case I have? I Googled the number on the side but didn't get any hits.
  4. My wife's vehicle has Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs and I like them so far. They aren't very much louder than the all-season tires that were on there before and the mileage hasn't dropped noticeably (even loggin mpg using fuelly.com). I would also recommend Nitto Tires but I've never personally used any of their all-terrains. My wife's vehicle has Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs and I like them so far. 5. It will be the same color. Blue Topaz Metallic looks very similar to Deep Ocean Blue Metallic to me. I was hoping it would be a lighter blue like chevrolet.com shows.
  6. GM can now disable AFM??

They can do it. It is just switching a setting on the ECM from Yes to No. If they will do it, I have no idea.
  7. The rear center of the driver's seat on my 2009 Silverado feels like it is worn out. I have the manual seats without lumbar. Is there any way to add lumbar adjustment or would I have to replace the entire seat? I looked for part diagrams online but couldn't find anything. Thanks, Dustin
  8. I didn't try out the lighter combo but went up in weight 35.5 lbs instead with off road tires. I can really tell they are heavier, especially in braking. I don't know at what weight difference it is noticeable but on this set I want to keep the weight down as much as possible.
  9. IMO, chrome is fine on metal parts but is tacky on plastic ones. 90% of the "chrome" on the newer trucks is just painted plastic. Chrome bumper - fine. Chrome wheels - fine. Chrome plastic around the windows, door handles, bug guards, grill, around the headlights, fender flares, etc. - cheesy.
  10. I will look into aftermarket wheels as well, but am mostly curious about the weights of the OEM options.
  11. Wow, that really helps. I am asking because I am wanting to go to 20" or 22" wheels for the smaller side wall and looks but want to keep the overall weight down as much as possible. On my GMT-900 the weights I got for my 17" wheels and tires were: steel 17" wheel - 31.5 lbs aluminum 17" wheel - 25 lbs 265/70R17 all season tire 34 lbs steel total weight - 65.5 lbs aluminum total weight - 59 lbs Basically though I am going up 10 lbs with the 20s and 20 lbs with the 22s. It is nice to know that the chrome plated wheels are a few pounds heavier.
  12. Unsprung weight reduction is the reason. I just don't want to start off with the heavier wheel and have no idea what the weight differences are between the different options.
  13. Thanks for the constructive reply. If anyone else has any info it would be appreciated.
  14. What are the lightest wheels (GMC or Chevrolet) in 20" or 22"? Thanks, Dustin
