  1. Interesting read! http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/gm-to-add-or-keep-7-000-jobs-make-us-1b-factory-investment-1.3244330 An earlier version of the story specifically mentions GM bringing in-house the manufacturing of axles for full-sized pickups. Perhaps they have figured something out. Bert
  2. 2014 1500 Denali Towing Capacity

With the 6.2 and max tow option the 2014 manual shows 11,700 or 11,800 or 12,000 lbs depending on the drive/cab/bed configuration. I have a 2014 5.3 4WD Crew Cab Short Box with the max tow option and tow a 7,200 lbs trailer no problem. Love the integrated brake controller in it too! Bert
  3. Just trying to educate myself here but what are the downsides to using "non-lug centric" style lug nuts to prevent pulling the wheel off center to the hub? Thanks Bert
  4. Remind me not to take you for a boat ride if you ever make it out here
  5. When this recall first came out I read that dealers were to put new parts on any trucks in stock but repair any customer trucks. So your 16 may have had a whole new assembly where our trucks will get cut up.
  6. I too tried various combinations of FLAC files and card formatting but I couldn't get it to recognise the FLAC files. My 128 GB SDHC card is formatted as NTFS, not FAT32. Bert
  7. Gotta say - this thing tows like a beast. Can't even tell the trailer is back there. I really mean that. I can't see the damn thing behind me. Makes it tough to back up at the dump. Gotta put a couple of canuk flags back there
  8. FADEC With shuffle already turned on and a song playing, press the "Browse" icon on the left of the screen. On my truck this brings up a ribbon of icons along the bottom of the screen. Press the "Song" icon then press any song that shows up in the list. That song will start playing and all the other songs on the SD card will follow randomly. I usually go on a 5,000km camping trip once a year and this works great. You can use the little paddles behind the steering wheel on the left side to advance to the next random song. Bert
  9. I've been using a 128 GB SDHC Card for the last 2 years with no problems. The only issue I have is when I reinsert the card into the truck after adding more music to it I have to turn shuffle back on. I have just under 10,000 mp3's taking up about 85GB of space on the card. When I go to use a voice command the system tells me that I have too many media files to use the Play Song command. I can successfully use the Play Album or Play Artist voice commands though. But I usually just leave it on random shuffle...never know what song is coming up next! Bert
  10. It's a full size Kingston 128GB Class 10 SDXC https://www.amazon.ca/Kingston-Digital-Secure-SDX10V-128GB/dp/B0090J5XLS/ref=sr_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1461179921&sr=1-8 I formatted it as NTFS and it works great, even though NTFS is not listed in the description on Amazon. I do have both 32GB and 64GB microSD cards. I don't use these in my truck. The 32GB ones came with an adapter but the 64GB didn't. If I put the 64GB microSD card in the adapter that came with the 32GB microSD card it treats the 64GB card as 32GB. So there must be something about the adapters.
  11. I've got a 128GB SD card in my center console, formatted as NTFS, with 85+ GB of MP3's with jpg's for the album artwork. Has worked flawlessly for almost 2 years. Set it for random when I go on the annual 5,000 km camping trip and never hear a repeat. The only thing I have found is when I reinsert the SD card after adding new music to it, I have to manually set up random play again.

  13. Went to the dealer and I'm not on the recall list - however they said to continue to check the recall site for the next while. This dealer has only seen 2015's that require the new hitch (based on VIN). They don't know why they haven't seen any 14's at their shop yet. And don't forget to get the right seasonal air in the tires they put on!
  14. I keep checking for my VIN (build 3/14) but nothing comes up. Called the local dealer and they are aware of the program and tell me to bring my truck in for an inspection. If needed they will order the hitch and I go back to get it installed. Maybe GM is doing things differently up here in Canada so may be best to call your local dealer.
  15. I got blue lights in mine if you want to trade trucks! Bring it by in late March and I'll take you to a Canucks game too!
