Check all the connections at the pcm. Make sure all pins are connected by pulling the plugs and look at the pins to make sure that none of them are backed out. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk
  3. 1996 k1500 4x4 problems

You have a early 97. They changed to push-button mid year 96. You need the actuator for a 97. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk

It sounds like the actuator. You have the gearshift right? Or do you have the push button 4x4? Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk

It seems that you have narrowed it down to ignition, when you said 1,6,8 weren't firing. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk

Just taking a stab, but did you use a delco cap and rotor? I used an aftermarket brand once and it was defective. I exchanged it under warranty and that one lasted 2 months. I pulled my hair out looking at everything until I found out it was the cap and rotor. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk

There is a ignition module under the cap that could be bad. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk

You didn't mention which vortec you have. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk

No codes? Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk
  10. If you can't find the info on the web, I would call a GM dealer. They should be able to break it down. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk
  11. Manual to Auto swap

Sounds like a good project. If it was me, I would wait until I get everything together. Do you're research, get all the parts needed and then attack. Probably would be best to leave everything engine and drivetrain wise as is until. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk
  12. Start and die

A bad ecm would stop the signal. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk
  13. Front pump seal? If so, you have to drop the transmission. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk
  14. Manual to Auto swap

IMO, I would keep the 5 speed. The truck is geared for it, if it is the original rear end. If you put in the automatic, you will want to put lower gears in. It's probably a 3.08 now. You would need to upgrade to at least a 3.73 if you want any grunt with the automatic. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk
  15. Maybe the pcm can't adapt to your mods? .30 over and a longer duration Cam is maybe too much for the stock pcm. Sent from my N9560 using Tapatalk
