My dad drove trucks all his life and always GM. He used to say a GMC was a Chevrolet with lock washers. He still holds the record for the longest run on a 366 10 wheeler which I believe was 265000+ miles on a gas engine. He blew it on the tower hill in Maine on route 9.
Okay, I know for a fact Mexican built electronics are very bad. The only reason Sony and LG pulled out of Mexico. GM vehicles are now mostly electronic and why most parts manufactured in Mexico fail . Assembly might be close to par but the rest isn't. My Trax is 99.9% manufactured outside Mexico but assembled in in Mexico. Still found missing screws and missing push clips here and there.
Assembled in Mexico means assembled during siesta, lots of problems accompany stuff made in Mexico. For instance remember all the cluster problems GM had from 2003 to 2007 in their trucks, made in Mexico all of them. All the Escalade clusters were made in China, same cluster and I see one of those for repair once in a blue moon. 2 actually in 7 years. They just don't have the quality control and expertise.
Some are built in Mexico and some are built in the US or Canada. Number 3 in front of a VIN is always worrisome to me.
