  1. Ds4x4's 15' Mission Overland Build

Been good so far. Haven't had it in a real off camber spot yet bit big thing is to remember how wide the truck is and how heavy it is. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Alex Thanks for the kind words. Honestly, the different sections on expidition portal and gmtrucks along with some general searching is where I got most of my info. I did have some experience from being a firefighter, wiring up some of the trucks and personal vehicles but nothing past that. I went with the airbags to save the suspension, at the end of the day you still have a Max load you can carry but to level the head lights and take the strain off the leaf springs it had to be done. Right now I have the bags run to individual Schrader valves to adjust pressure. The air systems for airbags aren't duty rated for tools or tires, I'm sure there is a way to use a true OBA like arb or viair to inflate them.. I just don't know how. I also DD mine so that weighs heavily into any mods I do. Not much going on lately. Just some light travel and snowboarding to finish the season out. Looking forward to more progress on the summer. Sorry I haven't updated much. Have gotten a few things done since the last post. Tent installed, new rims/tires, skid plates put on. And been out and exploring. GM skids, aluminum. Now just to figure out some transmission protection Tent installed Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Busy busy, installed the dual battery setup and controller switch in the cab. Just have to cover the wire with loom at some point. Also picked up a relay controller built specifically for the Jeep JK and modified it to work with the truck, mostly just modifying the mounting bracket on the control box and cutting down the switch box. Just have to shorten up the wires and it's all set and ready for some new rocker switches. Now this one is not sealed like the spod but it won't matter. I used my awesome friend - CorrosionX. I use it for my RC planes and it's awesome. Non conductive anticorrosive spray. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Pulled the trigger on the group 48 X2power battery (batteries + bulbs branded Northstar) 10%off with a $30 mail in rebate, couldn't beat the deal. That 48 fit the auxiliary batt spot like a glove. I ordered up some 1/2" abs plastic to make a custom shelf to mount the Acr and a 6 relay pod I found on amazon. Pretty high quality and basically a spod knockoff for the jeep jk. I'm going to run 1/0gauge welders wire for the Acr and 2gauge off a 100amp breaker back to the cap for another fuse block after Xmas. Got the wires run for the side lights while scratching the hell out of my paint on the cap, still have to put the lights on. Also got some wires run from the engine bay to the cab through the fender. What else? Ordered up some matte black 17" rims, and a 23zero roof top tent. Anyone know how to find GM Up fitters? I want to see if they can reprogram for a 200amp alternator that the SSV Police version uses. I was told by the dealer that unless a programing change, the alternator will only make the power the smart charging system tells it to even if it's a high output alt. Waiting on the battery tray to get here. Picking up some goodies tomorrow though. The Air Lift 5000 ultimate kit #88204 and 2 pairs of Procomp Led flood lights for the rack. Also waiting on the invoice for the tent, the container is in the states so hope to have it by Christmas. Just need to make a quick order with Frontrunner for tent mounts. The Acr, 2 fuse boxes are all here too. Now if your looking to add a dual battery to the 15 silverado your gunna need to order a new tray, $33 online part # Your also going to need the battery tie down # and an M8 x 1.25 x 49 bolt. It appears to me that the correct battery is a Group 48. I was able to figure that out only by seeing a pdf for the SSV Police model because the dealership lists a group 94 which is wayyyyy to big for that spot. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  9. How did you guys end up in you quest for adding the second battery? From what I've gathered a group 48 is what fits in that tray Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Quick update, I tried 3 different group batteries, from x2power to duracell deep cycle and then measured 5 other batteries without luck. I'm just leaving the dealership and they are still showing a group 94 battery but with a different tray than I currently have. I'll post up the results when I pull my tray today to verify the additional parts needed. Also headed out to buy an airlift airbag setup for the rear to take up some of the slack all the bed weight. Most recent in the build is trying to get all the parts for the dual battery. I have not figured out the length or Awg the wire will be yet for the run to the bed. A Blue sea ML-ACR with remote link will provide charging/isolation duties. The Acr will remain un-fused since I will be adding a 12k winch in the near future. A 12 blade fuse block with negative terminals running off a resetable 100amp fuse will be located in the engine bay and a second fuse block in the bed for a fridge and power. Blue sea 7622 ML-ACR Amp fuse Power block Now for a battery I was looking at this AGM deep cycle at batteries + bulbs, but this particular one is too long and I can't seem to locate which is the correct size for that extra battery location. The battery tray appears to be 11 1/2" x 7 1/2" (roughly). If anyone knows what the correct battery size is that would be great, if not I'll be stopping by the dealership tomorrow. The only other thing you need is the battery tie down GM part # 14005061 and a M8x1.25x49 bolt Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Mods so far -Dealer nerf steps i had Line-x'd -Line-x for the bed -2.5" rough country level kit for the front and rear -A.R.E. CX HD series with windoors After the cap I ordered a FrontRunner rack from Frontrunner outfitters. Mounting wasn't too hard once I figured out what I needed. It would have been easier if ARE had measured twice and cut once though. The roof bars were not square. Here's a shot of how attachment are made to the proprietary ARE cross bars. After that we attended Overland Expo East at the Biltmore estate IN Asheville NC. While there we picked up a nice awning from Cascadia Vehicle Tents Also picked up their mosquito room for the awning. We adventured a little in the woods were I grew up while we were visiting in South Jersey. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  13. Welcome to my 15' Silverado 1500 Double cab build. You can also follow the Mission Overland Team on IG - Mission Overland . I chose the 1500 over the 2500 only because I thought the days of heavy hauling were behind us for a while, needless to say I was wrong. I'm open to any suggestions and comments on this ongoing overland build. Brand new. Adding the 2.5" leveling kit from Rough Country Putting on the Cap. An A.R.E. CX HD series with internal skelton and windoors was my choice. The roof rails are directly tied into the skeleton allowing for a roof load of 550lbs. And yes, the cap was on before the lift but then it had to be sent back to ARE for repair.
