  1. I have done lots of auto glass and the tool I like the best is still the pull knife. Cut from the outside, if sharp cuts the urethane easily just use glass cleaner as a lubricant. Cheers Doug

This is interesting, my 2015 6.2 has done this a few times also then yesterday when I turned the key to start the ignition it just turned over for a bit then stopped, I tried it again and it finally started but ran really rough and the engine light came on. Call the dealer and have an appointment for Monday morning. Cheers Doug
  7. Mine does it too. But having installed autoglass I know it's not the windshield, moulding or the urethane. My guest is a cowl or trim clip. I will get to mine once the weather warms up as I'm better qualified them our local dealer tech.
  8. I agree with Tyler. Having installed a lot of glass and we were also wholesaler I know that most of the tempered after market glass and oem come from the same factories. The most important part of the repair is cutting out the old urethane with pieces of glass still attached and not scratching the paint. Then applying the neat bead of urethane that doesn't ooze out all over the place and making sure the glass is centred and not pushed in to far or stick out. Cheers Doug
  9. That's because the tech didn't put a drop cloth/pad on the hood while he cut out the windshield. The damage to your A pillar was just poor work.
  10. Sorry about the truck and for the other guy. Maybe winter rated tires should be on the wish list. I know they are worth their value, I used to run them 7-8 months of the year.
  11. My voice commands seem to work well, I use first names for about half my contacts. I did notice that when I had a cold things seemed to go sideways. For some of us Canadians the voice commands are a great feature because of our distracted drive laws, it can really cost you in some provinces if they catch you texting or talking on the phone while holding it. Same goes for playing with the GPS.
  12. We used to remove the antenna every time we did a windshield as it just gets in the way. Definitely just a threaded stud under the antenna.
  13. Just a couple things note note. The best way to cut out a windshield without damaging the pinchweld is to use a pull knife on the sides and top and a Exrtactor only on the bottom bead of urethane. All windshields are the same thickness of glass, acoustic ones have a thicker vinyl between the glass, the AS1 rating has a .030" vinyl layer and is the minimum required. The exception is bullet proof ones. The old urethane bead should be trimmed down and the new bead should be put directly on top and should not be put on the windshield. Glass quality (optically) may very a little but with most glass coming out of Mexico, China and some still made in the US at companies like PPG, as to construction they must all meet certain ANSI standards. The biggest veritable in having your windshield replaced is the technician, a competent one can make a big difference.
