Rear Axle Removal Questions

tyjones

Question

I have removed the center pin in the differential of my 05 Yukon Denali Xl, in an attempt to remove the rear axle shaft and replace hte axle seal that is leaking. Everything I have read says that I just need to push the shafts inward after removing the center pin and the c clips will come out. The axle shafts will not move inward enough to remove the c clip. They move very little, in fact probably only half the distance they need to. I have been searching everywhere for instructions and I can find anything...I stuck and getting very frustrated. Thanks in advance for your help.

I should also mention that I have removed the calipers and rotors already, too. Do I have to remove the parking brake assembly?

tyjones - did you get your axles out?

I have the same problem right now with 2006 Tahoe. All brake parts have been removed but the axle does not push in far enough to remove the C-Clip. I can spin it easily but the axle needs to come in about an 1/8" more.
