Just wondering if its even possible?

Probably not since in most states it is illegal to drive with just the parking lights on. (Thus the name Parking lights). This is because your dash lights come on with the parking lights. Studies have shown that this leads to people not realizing there headlights are not on when it is dark enough that they should be on. With modern controls this effect could be eliminated but I don't think the auto manufactures would do that until the law is removed from states books.

If you cant realize your headlights are not on you shouldnt be driving! I see that all the time. I can see the confusion if your in a well lighted area but when there are no other lights around. Also as for the dash lights being on I have noticed on my 09 the guages stay lit all the time. Nothing else lights until its dark enough. I think it looks cool with the parking lights on by them selves. Especially on the 900 series trucks. We have a 2001 Venture and the parking lights are the running lights!

It could be done with some rewiring and a couple diodes. I added HID's so I will be either rewiring the DRL's to the front park lamps or the fog lamps. I haven't decided yet. If I do it to the park lamps I'll write up a how to.

That would be awesome! I'm in the same boat, right now I'm actually using my HIDs for DRL duty (HIDs are powered by a relay straight off the battery, so it's not hurting them at all) but I'd rather just have the front parking lights. There's nothing illegal about that in any state to the best of my knowledge.

Well if some electronic guru figures this out, let us normal folk know how to get the wiring done. It would be sweet to have the DRL work with the parking lights only. I can turn my parking lights on now, but it also turns on my tail lights, which sucks. I already removed the fuse to prevent my head lights from coming on during the day. Running ambers during the day similar to the Yota's would be cool.

No problem on mine to run park lights only, All you have to do is take them off of automatic and switch on the park lights.

I think you're missing what we're saying.

When you take them off automatic and switch on the park lights, the tail lights and dash lights come on as well. What we want is to be able to leave them on automatic, and have the park lights IN THE FRONT of the truck come on, but NOT have the tail lights and dash lights come on. Making the FRONT park lights the DRLs, as opposed to the factory configuration of using the low beam headlamps as the DRLs.
