Cobra CB's

I'm actually on my 2nd cb from cobra.  Reason being is because I needed a more compact one.  Both CB's were very high quality and I've been nothing but impressed w/ them.  If you're looking for a CB or any other type of communication device I would highly recommend cobra products.  The CB's work great and usually are cheaper than a lot of other brands.

You can get some pics of the install and the antenna on my site http://install.mudcrazy.com but here's a link for info on the CB itself:

It's a 19DX3.  To install it I had to modify the center console so if you want to keep it stock I wouldn't recommend it.  I had to knock out the cd holder slots on one side and had to cut the back part off and the metal holder for the wires to come through.  I wouldn't recommend this unless you don't mind cutting away at the console.  I didn't care because I had trimmed mine away from the start so I could put it in my truck w/ a 4x4 floor shifter.  From the back it looks bad, but once it's installed no one will ever see it, but from the front it looks like it was supposed to come that way.

Just to save you some trouble, the link I gave you for the CB info is also the cheapest price when I was looking.  I got my antenna from there as well, 21" glass mount antenna.  It had enough coax to run around the truck from the back window to the center console (along the panels).  They had good service and I got the stuff pretty quickly.

i like the way that you have your cb hooked up except for the fact that the whip is so short....you have a truck man get a 9 or 10 foot whip off of the toolbox that you havent gotten yet man!

Nope, I think I'll stick w/ what I've got.  Anything more just seems too gawdy.  I had two 5' fiberglass whips coming out of the bed before and they were an eyesore, always hitting stuff, smacking around.  I mean, for the amount of time that I actually use the CB, why have something that isn't visually appealing.  I live in the city and a big whip would hit on the garage, and just be a nuiscance.

chevy4x4trucks, I was just wondering how long the coax cable is (for the antenna).

Would I be able to run it from the front of my car to the back (2 door jimmy) so that I can mount it on the rear glass?

It was I think 12'.  Just enough to run around my ext. cab truck, so I think it may fall short on your jimmy.  However, you may want to just run it around and mount it on one of the rear side windows.  Just a thought since those are fixed glass, it would be much less of a pain to do it and would look a lot cleaner IMO.
