What are the steps required to remove the ECM from GMT-900's? And what are the steps required in Relearning a different ECM?

And if it's not calibrated for my VIN?

If the ECM is calibrated for your VIN, you will just need to perform the Security Relearn to get the vehicle up and running, and subsequently will need to get the crank relearn done.

It may or may not work, even after the Security Relearn. There will be electronic throttle body issues.

Jenna, Justin, Someone,

Could you explain more thoroughly?

What would this swap involve? A trip to the dealer?

Would this process be different on a diesel?

Thanks,

Mark

When swapping out an ECM that is properly calibrated for your VIN, a Security Relearn is needed to get the vehicle to start. A dealer visit is not needed, as no special tools are necessary.

I am not in the position to comment on diesels, as we do not tune them.
