I bought a can of red grease to apply grease to hinges with a paint brush and also started applying it to the alternator to see if it would prevent the corosion that likes to form on it. Well it did an excellent job and my alternator looks brand new again. I also applied the grease to other parts under the hood that had a little corrosion on it with a paint brush. The reserve tank below the alternator which likes to rust, all metal lines I could reach too. If you have the time and care about keeping the under the hood area looking new and fight corrosion, I recommend getting some red grease at walmart for $3.00. Just be careful when applying it near the belt.
