GM needs to get back into the medium duty line up...f-450/550s along with their ram counter parts are dominating markets like public works...i do see quite a few kodiak/topkicks still but honestly i think a silverado or sierra 4500 or 5500 would be great

gm & ford pretty much had the engineering complete on their light duty diesels for the 1/2 tons in 08 & 09 before the markets tanked...not sure how far along the cummins V8 for the ram had gotten before the contract was cnxd---I'd imagine it wouldn't take all that much to dust off the info & get it all started up again...

I think the Gen. V small block is the engine line going in at Tonawanda, not the Duramax 4500. The 4500 was scheduled to be built at Tonawanda, but I believe the 4500 has been cancelled.

Now shut your mouth...I've been waiting for the half ton diesel to come back for a long time now. You need to hush it up right now.

I wonder what sort of mileage they would be able to get out of a half ton pickup with a diesel engine in it and what sort of price premium we would be looking at for it.

Well i wonder the same GPGuy. Diesel is also more $$$$$$$$ at the pump. Now i know up here in Canada, when gasoline goes up, you see diesel go down in $$. So if they can get a diesel out i see long term it be the winner.

Very true and if it can garner the mpg's over and above the gas enough to offset the cost it may very well be the winner.
