on my 1984 k5,i took the cat off but soon as i put it in gear it died cause it didnt have ebough back pressure.but i also took off the muffler.if i take the cat of and put the muffler back on will it have enough back pressure to keep idle??

it should still idle without the cat,you have a vacuum leak or that carb needs a rebuild or tuned in like i said in your other post.
