Avalanche going away?

It's a nice, but limited, niche vehicle, so it doesn't surprise me that it's going away. I thought about one 'till I got to underhood options. Say what!? No 6.2!? A 5.3 in a 5900# vehicle just won't get it for me.

Dont just roll over and take this, this is another bench seat, we will never again have something that is a pickup/suv mix with rear coil springs from an american company. First the ford explorer pickup thing and now the avalanche.

What do they expect us to do? Buy honda ridgelines?

I agree totally, the 5.3 is just "not enough" for as heavy as the Avalanche is,they use to offer the "L76" VortecMAX 6-lter for the '07-'08 model-years,but it was not a very popular option.

I think you can get the 6.2 in Canada, and I also think its not offered down here in the states because of CAFE standards.

I don't think they offer a bench seat and column shift in the Avalanche anymore.

Not sure about the US but I just saw an Avalanche on the lot here the other day with a bench seat and column shifter.

my 09 avalanche was ordered with a center front seat....at the time I think there was a $700-900 credit for the console delete......when the truck came in, i picked up a basically new console for $400, installed it in no time, and sold my center seat to offset the cost. In the end it saved me money to put towards the 22's

Cool thing about the avalanche in canada is that it came with the 6.2

Not anymore. I think it has been gone for a couple of years now.

I know the 8.1 was available in the 2500 Avalanche, can't remember what year it was.

It not only was available,it was the only engine in the 2500 Avalanche's,it was from '02-'06 during the GMT800 based Avalanche's.

You can still get a split bench seat on the LS trim level (LT & LTZ are only available with buckets) and column shift is the only shifter, there never was a console shift.

Looked at a few . Looked like a truck with a crew cab and a short box basically,

It is,but with the mid-gate down and open it turns into a 8'1" long-box!
