The Fast Lane truck or whatever the youtube channel is called put up their 2017 diesel comparison. Even though the Chevy is rated 7,000+lbs less than dodge and ford they still picked it as their winner.

GM has had the best diesel power train for ages. It's not all about numbers. So I'm not surprised.

Finally got around to changing the oil on the Versa, using my dad's driveway and ramps. I'm desperate for a garage!

Castrol 5W-30

Fram Tough Guard

New oil drain plug

Why aren't you using the XG6607 made for synthetic and synthetic blends? Synthetic oils tend to dissolve the glue holding the paper filter materials together used in conventional oil filters especially if you keep them in longer than 3000 miles. The XG has a hepa type filtration material and is made to last longer and filter better. I keep the oil for 12000Kms but change the filter every 6000Kms on my Cobalt.

Good question, I think I'll use that version next time. And I didn't know that the XG version was for blends and/or full synthetic.

How much oil do you use when you change the filter without draining?

I use the Wix 51522 XP, if you are set on Fram it would be the XG9837. These are for a trailblazer with the 4.2L. Same diameter and mounting thread, just a little longer. AC Delco is a PF61

Not a lot with the ecotec because it uses a cartridge that sits in a cup on top of the engine, maybe 50ml. Probably half a quart with the Versa

Wix is one of the better brands out there today. I use them, or Amsoil's filters.

That said, I used Fram filters for over 20 years without an issue, long before they came up with the different grade filters of today.

Ok, I've been checking my Mazda dealer regularly, they are getting some interesting trades. They still have that 2015 Stingray with 7800 miles, they now also have a Elise, a 2013 Panamera, a 2015 Denali Sierra, a 2014 K2 crew cab LTZ with like 10K in off road stuff, and a one year old CX9 with 4800 miles.

Why the heck are all those people trading in for new Mazdas? They are all niche, under warranty, or vastly different(well, beisdes the Elise, you know what they traded in for).

But we all know the answer.

The better the filter the sooner it will go into bypass, so you really need to change the filter every 3000 miles ( 5000Kms ) like the manual says.

That hasn't been my experience. I do run the bigger filter, but I've run it for 8000 miles.

What vehicle are you talking about that requires a 3k oil change schedule?
