LED fog lights for my zero turn mower?

Recommended Posts

I need some led fog lites for my toro ztr.

Any stores stock any cheap ones I can go put my hands on to check size and design. I need to mount them so they will not get damaged easy. ROPS is not always up, so can't there. Toro sales a regular light kit for about $250 or so. I don't think so.

Point me in the right direction please. Daylight runs out too soon everyday.

thanks,

Babyhauler

Put on one Rigid Industries' SR-Q LED (flood pattern) and it'd be all you need. I have them mounted on the front of my Sierra 1500 as "fog" lights and they kick butt for a flood light. I mounted another one on a friends zero-turn to try out and now I can't get it back….

post-39650-0-40501200-1429061494_thumb.jpgMy LEDS with the magnet base that I made for the back of my trailer are lighting up the yard for some night time mowing. I clipped the wires to the battery & stuck the lights on and mowed for another hour. Two 900 lumen lights were more than enough. This will be handy in the summer to escape the heat since it is a 5-6 hour job.

I got a set of LED's off Northern Tool for my flatbed trailer, for backing up at night. These things are like a pair of headlights on the back, so I'd bet they'd work wonders on a Z-turn.

I was thinking of throwing a set on mine, but I removed the ROPS due to one of my apple trees nearly putting me on my back, and the 800 lb Z-turn on top of me. I'd have to get creative with installation.

Yep, That low limb vs ROPS will scare the hell out of you. Mine is usually folded down.

I mounted my lights on a 65# magnet (hey young guys, that is a symbol for pounds in this case. Not a hashtag.) so I can stick them anywhere. Mine are a square version that are just a bit smaller than yours. I used a 4 way trailer harness so I can just plug it into a truck outlet and have a big light. I did this to help figure out where I wanted to mount a set on my other 2500. Now that I have the diesel, I need to get some mounted.

I would buy some smaller, flat ones if I were getting them just for the mower. I would still put them on the magnet base since I would break them off if bolted on. Advance Auto parts has a small 2 wire plug that would work great to attach or remove them. I need to wire my tractor & loader so I can attach more lights to it.

later.

Great idea with the magnetic mounts - I just might do that. This time of year, I'm always so busy the only time I have time to mow is at night! I gotta get on that ...

LOL - I still refer to it as the "pound" sign. I get strange looks from the younger generation .. and I'm not all that old myself! Alot has changed - really fast too...

I like those mounted high and inside. They should be protected and work good up there.

The 2 wire plugs I added make it easier to plug and go. Or plug and mow. The 2 wire will still plug into the 4 wire plug on the truck for extra light if needed there. A switch was added since I blew some fuses when plugging in lights.

The 65 lb magnet allows the light to ride tight on the front wheel arm, until you knock it off with a limb. Same thing when stuck to the roll bar.

I mowed for 2 more hours after dark on a job last week. The lights let me finish the job instead of having to come back later. It was beside a building site and I did not run over any tools or supplies.

The lights did not seem to affect the battery either.

Later.
