2014 Silverado Z71 Package

Recommended Posts

Anyone think the hill descent feature would be worth getting the Z71 package for?

I have to go down a really steep driveway in the winter. Not sure I like the Z71 grille and interior trim. Wish they would have kept the off road package and appearance package separate.

Pretty much decided im going with the Z71 package on a LTZ. I like the grille better, etc.Wife wants the 40/20/40 front seat so I may go with that. Same seats, just doesn't have the full console and you can't get the alert package or cooled seats. Now I have to decide on the wheels. The 18" Z71 wheels with white lettered tires looks pretty good but so does the 20" chrome clad. Question, will I notice much difference in ride quaility with the Z71 package and the 20" tires vrs regular shocks etc. and 18" tires?

I figured you wouldn't notice much difference. I don't really do any off roading. Just have a hell a time getting up my driveway in the winter sometimes. Sometimes if I have ice on my aspalt we drive off the bank on the bottom end instead, but it's graded for that so it's not that bad.

depends where you live I guess... here in the FLA the hill decent is not needed. Only mountains we have is the highway overpass...

My driveway is so bad we have a parking spot at the bottom. We don't get that much snow here in Missouri but it's a little hilly around here.

Yes, less side wall on the 20s will mean less comfort. This is the first yr they offer the 20s with Z-71. If you always drive on glass smooth roads not so much a big deal. For what it is worth, I prefer the Z-71 18 inch wheel look to the LTZ 20. If One could get the 20" bright machined aluminum (LT wheel) on an LTZ then maybe but ride will suffer over an 18.

Bilseins 5100s will greatly help ride. I drove a '14 SLT z-71 4x4 and the Bilsteins (on my 09) would be an improvement over the el ronchos.

My good friend changed out his 20 inch Goodyear's on his 07 SLT for Michelins LTX MS and he said the ride and wet road driving was much better. 18s or 20s I would swap out the tires for Michelins as soon as I bought the truck. If you are close to a discount tire, they will pay you for the take offs if you have not driven for a month or so. I did this the day I got my 09 and I think they gave me something like $70-80? a tire.

Thanks for input. Agree the 18" look pretty good to me also. Saw them with white lettered tires on granite blue Z71 LTZ. The brushed aluminum should look good with a silver truck.

The tire size has something to do with it as well. Hard to say the 20in will be worse this year because the 275 tires is now an option. In previous years the biggest you could get was a 265. I could be wrong.. but we will see. I just ordered a new double cab with these 20in wheels and 275 tires...

I just looked at the build site. The 18" are P265/65R18 and the 20" are P275/55R20. Heres a link to goodyear specs.

When they had the big introdution in Texas a while back they had bunch of Z71's and they almost all had the 20" wheels. Didn't read about any complaints from media. They drove them around on dirt roads, through a branch, couple small banks etc.
