Water Pump Question - GMT800

Got a leaky water pump on my 2000 Suburban 1500 LT. Looking at the replacements on Rock Auto I see there are 2 different versions - one for a 1.88" thermostat outlet and one for a 2.05" thermostat outlet.

Wondering if there is a way to tell which pump I have with taking the thermostat off and measuring. Vehicle options, VIN #, hose size? I'm assuming worst case scenario is if I buy the wrong one I just need a new thermostat?

I know someone on here has been through this before. Thanks in advance.

Just checked my VIN number and it matches the one in your link so I have the 2.05" outlet. Think I'm good to go. Thanks!

In the video... He DOESN'T "apply a thin layer of RTV on both sides of the gasket" as directed in my Haynes manual.

Who's correct?

To RTV or not to RTV? THAT is the question...

For what it's worth, the GM service manual makes no mention of using RTV either...

Need some help.

2003 Sierra 1500, 5.3L.

VIN: 1GCEK19T13E330126

How do I know what size I have? 2.02" Diameter thermostat Outlet or 1.88" Diameter? And it's the original water pump I'm replacing. Someone else told me I must replace thermostat regardless, I hope that's not true? It's fine.
