8-speed Transmission!?

Have no idea if the info at the link is true or speculation, but using a Aisin 8 until the in house 9 & 10 speeds are ready to go.

The Titan will probably be ugly. The last one was and based on the Tundra I've basically come to the conclusion that the import brands can't style a fullsize truck at all.

Was at my dealer a month ago talking to the service mgr. while getting some work done on my truck. We were talking about the new 14's and he said if I wanted a new one to wait till next summer that the 8-speeds would be out by then. Said he had saw them at a training meeting in Florida a couple weeks earlier. Don't know if he was blowing smoke or not but he was the one that brought it up.

Most likely the Denalis will get them 1st, just like they did with the 6.2L and 6 speed for the GMT-900 version

I bet we would be looking at 26 or 27mpg out of the 5.3 with a 8 speed. That would be awesome.

No way, a lot of vehicles have gone from 6 to 8 and the avg high gain is 2 mpg

8 speed? Beware of what you wish for. The 6sp in the 900s is less than stellar. My 09 with the 5.3 is a mess. It hits 6th gr at 40 on an easy roll out and bucks on decal. Is slow to down shit and seems to lack power unless WOT. Had the dealer re-flash tcm and ecm to no avail.

Requires a tune to run properly. The mpg race has these things tuned to the bottom and sure 8sp will be the same.

I agree with all the op's reasons with the exception of competing with the titan. Nissan doesn't even like their truck, the have been trying to get dodge/ram to let them rebrand one of them as the titan forever, will be interesting to see what happens with the next one though, I really think it will be a non-factor overall..
