Here is my tutorial on adding the radio control buttons to the GMT900. I've also put in some tips to look for before ordering the parts, as well as part numbers for the parts I used.

Here is the PDF I created for the tutorial with pictures, and the steps:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hopefully this helps outline the steps and parts. I definitely enjoy having these buttons on my steering wheel! Also if you want specific pictures for better clarity since Google does reduce the quality some, ask and I'll post them up!

looks good,i have a 2012 that i want to do that on. will the radio just start working after the mod or do i need to program it? thanks

Thanks. When I did mine, it didn't need reprogrammed, it just started working as soon as I plugged in the new harness and buttons to test it out. I'll have to look back at some saved links that I have before I did it to look at different options (RPO Codes) that makes it more likely to be the case. I know there was one thread that I read that had to change to a higher level radio since the level of radio in that truck wasn't compatible. I'll get back to you here over the weekend with what I find in the links to help make sure it will be more likely to work.

ok, sounds good. my radio is the usb model,so im hoping it will work. thanks

Does your truck already have cruise control buttons? One thing to check would be the part on where I talk about removing the air bag and checking the connector for the pins.

yes, cruise was standard on mine 2500 Hd. i can check for the pins also,, do you know how many should be there?

There should be ten pins where the wiring harness hooks in that goes to the cruise, on page three of the how-to, it shows a picture of the connector pins without the connector installed. Just out of curiosity does your truck also have OnStar?

ok,ill check for them. no onstar and if it did it already would have had the controls there for all of that, bluetooth etc. i added the GM XM kit after because the radio already was compatble.

I'm pretty sure your radio should work fine with it. I think the only one I read that didn't was a lower level. Mines a non XM truck, it does have the convenience package and OnStar. I know when I did mine I tested out the buttons before cutting the shroud to make sure they functioned.
