Bed Liner Discussion

I know these have all been mentioned, but I wanted to start a topic specifically to talk about bed liners for the 2014.

 

I cannot make up my mind about what I want to do with my truck bed. I thought I wanted a color matched Line-X spray in liner. Pics look nice from what I have seen, but I haven't seen one in my truck color yet to really know if I would like it color matched.

 

I also like the looks of the BedRug. I believe someone posted a pic of it installed in their 2014 and it look very nice. Please feel free to post it again in this thread. :-)

 

While looking at the BedRug, I see they also make something called the BedTred Pro. It installs like a bedrug, but looks like a spray in liner. Anyone gone this route, and if so what are your thoughts compared to the other 2 options I mentioned?

LineX is the only one for me! I've had the color match before on silver but it marks up to easily. Black is going in mine next Friday along with a Retrax or Roll n Lock, I haven't decided which yet.

I'm having a bed rug put in mine, I don't need the durability of a LineX. My truck will be more of a "mall crawler" than a working truck. Bed Rug and an Undercover Flex tonneau cover for me. Take delivery next week!!

I have Line-X in this truck and had it in my last Silverado. Next Silverado will have it too. Just basic black. I don't care for the color matched liner personally. I'm not convinced its look nice with the difference in texture.

Rhino liner cost me 360. I put one in my last truck and will probably always have them.

I have a Bed Rug ordered to go in my new crew cab. I have several friends who have utilized this liner before and I think it offers the most flexibility for service. I especially like the fact that I can kneel in the bed while tying down items. While I think it may be harder to spray out sand, mud or dirt than the two main alternatives, the pluses for me outnumber the negatives. I like the expression that one individual is calling his more of a "mall crawler" than a work truck. Ditto for me, but I will throw in a bunch of hunting.

GM has a deal that if one has a corporation they have a promotion for up to $400 for accessories ( mine is a GMC truck; don't know if it also applies to Chevy, but I would surmise it does). So one of the accessories is a Bed Rug and the only difference is that it has the GMC logo on the cab portion. It was to come in overnight and be here this week but when I went to inquire about it today I was informed that they are behind in production and will not be shipping until Sept. 20-24 or so. I don't want to wait that long as I don't want to mess up the bed. The cost was to be $420 from GM and $400 was a credit for a net charge of $20 plus tax. Being impatient, I ordered it from Bakflip as their pricing is $371 on sale until Labor Day. I also have an F1 backflip ordered which again is what some of my friends have raved over. Both items are free shipping.

 

As to whether I self install remains to be seen. There are videos at each company website which is supposed to assist. I am not probably as handy as some of you; however the companies promise anyone can do it....we will see; I may prove to be the exception!

I went with another Line-X in standard black, along with the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite. Very pleased so far.

I broke down and finally went with the bed rug retrax pro combo. Could not be happier with the choice right now. Once first heavy rain comes that may change. Not sure how thise drain lines will hold up.

 

I had both unstalled and it was a little over 2500 bucks.

Plastic liners ruin the paint and trap moisture. That story sucks but spray in liners are tremendously popular and that's the first horror story I've read.

I went with LineX and I'm pleased with the results.

A Bedrug would have been my second choice for light duty use....but I have a slide in camper.

 

Wouldn't have a plastic drop in liner for the reasons mentioned above, plus you can't use them with campers.

Read that link about the Rhino install. What a nightmare!

Check out your installer closely.

Plastic liners ruin the paint isn't a problem,seen what they do before installing spray on? Moisture kind of freaks me out thinking about. Maybe I will have a peak under my brothers 2010 he has had a plastic liner forever.

 

Yea, slide in camper may not work. And that story was the worst I have seen. I have seen razor knife cuts before that I wouldn't be ok with. I wouldn't bargain shop on a spray liner. Go to the best shop if you want spray liner. Make sure you can see others they have done.
