Cone surround rot -- review of repair product

I have a powered subwoofer that is @ 20 years old. After I moved into the new place, I noticed the sub sounded like crap. Upon investigating I found I had it connected correctly, the receiver was still set the same, and the crossover and other level controls on the sub box were all OK. I took the front off and found the foam surround gone, just pieces remained. Apparently the vibration from moving was the last straw for the deteriorating foam and it ended up in the bottom of the moving box.

I tried researching the speaker but could not find any 'raw' subs that matched my enclosure specs (or I did my math way wrong). As I was researching the sub itself, I found Parts Express had "speaker surround refoam kits" for @ $30.

So I tried one.

I can not be happier with the results. I was very skeptical that this was repairable due to keeping the cone centered on the magnet. I was wrong apparently. After following the instructions (and NOT gluing any fingers to the speaker, thank you...) the job was done in @ 15 minutes, not counting drying time. Ran a test CD and we have watched a few movies, plus we tend to crank the tunes when working around the house. So far it sounds as good as it always had. No extra vibrations, 'brassiness' (not sure if that is the right word), or anything else I can detect.

It is a beautiful truck, goes like a locomotive, looks nice, rides
pretty good, gorgeous machine. However I have to say after driving it
the past few days I really miss my truck. Family members have teasingly
asked me if I am going to buy a Dodge now. Honestly, they are nice
trucks but I really prefer and like my GM truck better. It rides better,
shifts better, steers better and the seats are much more comfortable in
my opinion. Nice truck yes, but its not for me.

I had the same thing happen to me. I noticed the surrounds on my 15"s were bad and it was either pay I think $20-$30 with shipping back then or a couple hundred to replace them. Did the surround restore kit and they work fine. Never even knew something like that existed until I went looking for new 15"s. Found pictures of the redo but I'm slow and can't figure out how to add pictures from my PC. I can do it from my phone via tapatalk fine though.

May have to turn it down.

Pictures in the living room got vibrated off level.

Naw, will use rubber feet on the back of the pictures and see how that does.
