Adding Navigation to Intellilink / MyLink System

For xm (after my free trial) it took 45 minutes to get to someone that knew what to do. Have faith with OnStar... After they are done you will see a send to nav option on your app.

Called XM at 830 had weather up and running by 8:38. Including two wait periods of about 2mins.

 

Steps I took

called and chose option 1. When rep got on asked for tech support. Was transferred to account specialist. Told lady I wanted travel link. Explained system was upgraded to IO6. She put me on hold and when she came back said that she could activate. Weather came up about 3mins later but still waiting on traffic gas and she said stocks?!?! Didn't know or really care about stocks.

ok i thought it was too easy to be true.

 

i called XM again because i am not seeing the gas app or the traffic is still showing me it is not active.

 

so my question is will an icon show up on the radio home screen like i have on the Camaro?

 

i have a 13 Camaro with the Nav. it has an icon for the gas weather and movies or something.

 

will the traffic show up only on he map?

 

 

if any one has any screen shots that would be awesome.

Gas only shows up when you search for the poi. No dedicated gas price app. Traffic flow shows up like Google on the map. Additionally, traffic incidents show up when you hit the menu button from the map. No movies or stocks that I have found.

If you have Travellink you have access to gas prices and movie times, but you have to drill down pretty deep to find them. You can't use the regular menu.

 

Start in Nav mode, touch the map, then along the bottom of the screen touch "Destination", then touch "POIS" (lower right), then.....

 

--- for fuel prices - touch "Fuel and Auto, touch "Fuel Stations", then wait a few and a list of stations with prices will appear.

 

--- for Movie Times - (scroll down) touch "Sports and Entertainment", then touch "Entertainment", then touch "Movie Theaters", then touch the Movie Theater of your choice, then wait a few and the movie times will appear in a list.

 

I think "Gas Buddy" and "Fandango" on my iPhone are much easier for prices and times, but if I was traveling and wanted directions to one of these specific businesses, I might use these services.

Received my kit from Kodiakz today. Super fast shipping and packaged really well. I hope to get my truck back from the dealer tomorrow ( frame coating is coming off) and get it installed.

ok ... OnStar is insisting that they can't do anything. so this time i called started the conversation with well i have navigation in the vehicle but i am missing the send to nav in the app ... already been on hold 4 times but lets see what they come back with.

 

rep: "oh now it is a GM problem cause it seems theres something wrong with the radio".

 

me: ok let me repeat myself my navigation works if i speak direction or manually type it in. i get a nice little map thats highlights the road I'm suppose to be on then tells me to turn and all that fun stuff. so my navigation works. the problems is not there but within the app that i downloaded from you. it is not showing me the full menu for sending options to my vehicle.

 

rep: ok let me put on hold again .. ( 6 times now)

 

out of nowhere comes another rep. explain the the issue again

 

New rep: well i see your VIN# work sheet states truck was built with no nav.

 

me: i can FaceTime you and show you i have the maps in my truck.

 

turns out the new rep was from GM so he transfers me back over to Onstar just to get disconnected.

 

SO FRUSTRATING!

Yep, same here.

This is the 4th try:

Me: Hi, need to talk to tech support please.

Rep: yes, how can we help you.

Me: Need to talk to tech support please.

Rep: ok, for what type of issue?

Me: Directions not coming thru my nav only radio

Tech: how can we help you?

Me: need to talk to tier 2 support please

tech: I am tech support

Me: I know but I need tier 2 support please.

tech: ok let me open a ticket for you and someone will get back to you within 3 -5 Days

 

 

Fingers crossed, this time we get someone who knows what they are doing.

When you ask for level 2 and get to entry level tech support, try telling them to request on the ticket for Level 2 to update your account to reflect that your vehicle now has factory Nav and you need for the app to send info to the onboard Nav, in addition to the Onstar turn by turn directions that you have now....

 

A couple days later, someone will call to advise you that your account has been updated and everything should be working now....

Anyone had the radio nob rings and hvac controls replaced since installing the factory nav HMI module. Do they have to reflash the HMI to get the backlights to work?? Do you lose the nav?
