2014 Resale / Trade In Value

Recommended Posts

Dodge still offers a manual transmission on their Cummins diesel trucks (at least they did in 2013). Nobody else does.

If they still have it it's a much weaker/less powerful motor than the automatic trans version. No reason to buy a manual these days.

Man I explained it a bunch.. Trans sucks Gas mileage not close to sticker. No dimming mirrors (didn't notice bought during day... Very sensitive eyes.) Interior noisey rattles.. Truck shakes like crazy.. Not a fan any more.. My wife hates it. So I have the go ahead to let it go on trade in Sent from my HTC6500LVW using TapatalkYou didn't do much explaining, your first post doesn't have it in it. Trans sucks, let it learn or get a tune for a couple hundred, problem solved. Not to mention it will improve other things as well as performance. No dimming mirror, purchase one and install for a couple hundred (you are a tech and can do that and isn't a deal breaker).Probably doesn't rattle that bad (an 80's escort rattles), Take it to the dealer and have them find them and stop them, that is what they are for, problem solved.Shakes like crazy? Again probably not that bad. Discuss with the dealer and have them fix it. Take them for a ride and they will make it right by either balancing or replacing, problem solved.Gas mileage, if you are up north you are on winter blend, not to mention it takes some time for the motors to break in and get advertised power and mpg's. Your a tech and should know this and it is notorious with GM motors. Dyno a LS motor at 1k then at 20k and you will be looking at more hp and mpg'sNot her truck, doesn't matter. You bought it so she gave you the blessing before. If you bought it you must have liked most of it, why take a bath when you just need to fix a few things that only needs a couple hundred dollars to make perfect how you want? Surprises me some of the horrible decisions people make and not doing there homework. Maybe it is the Finance side of me and my line of work or being a car guy too? Sounds like those are the kinds of people that are never satisfied, if you a new truck you purchase that you really wanted then turn around and sell it or trade it... Tyler
Ive posted YouTube videos how bad it shakes.. And the interior noiseIn honestly just not into this truck. Not like my f150Got a trade in quote of 35kSent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk

Taken service techs.. Had tires balanced... EtcSent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk

If the guy doesn't like the truck he doesn't like the truck, why should anyone try to convince him to keep it. His questions was "thoughts on trade in value". Not "thoughts and what I can do to make me like my truck"

Your gonna loose some money, probably about 6-7 grand plus the taxes you paid on it. It might be better to keep until the '15's come out try not to put many more miles on it and trade/sell it then.

Can u post a link to your shake video. I've been trying to find one that shows this.

Some people still like the feel and level of control a manual transmission offers.

x10000 - The ONLY reason I could justify trading my G8 GT in on the truck and not just keeping it once paid off to turn into a long term project car was the lack of the manual, that's really only it. I still the car a ton, but I realized if I want a hobby/project/muscle car to keep long term I'd be much happier w/ a manual tranny. It is a completely different experience driving an M6 car you have more control and are more "in tune" with what is going on around you.

I don't care how fast some of these dual clutch trannies are they neuter the driving experience immensely, and I've driven pretty much the best one out there - a PDK in a porsche, I much prefer the stubby notchy manual in the 911 over the PDK period.

I don't mind a manual if it's worth it but truck manuals are junk.

Manual transmissions are disappearing from cars and trucks at an alarming rate. Just some ten years ago you could still get a mid size SUV like Nissan Pathfinder with a manual and virtually all imported 6 cylinder sedans in 20k-30k price range were available with one. Now forget it. Even BMW, which was the last holdout is dropping the manuals from most of its sedans for 2014.
I absolutely agree, I do not care how good or fast paddle shifters are, it is not the same thing. And they had to idiot proof the system to automatically go into first when coming to a stop because many people would forget to downshift.

I take it the dealer hasn't been able to solve your issues? My truck is getting much better MPG now that it's beyond 2k miles on the clock.
