Electric Winch Connection

I recently purchased a 2009 Silverado 2500 HD LTZ with a 6.0. She's pretty and fun to drive, but I plan on putting her to work.

 

That being said, I have a 20 ft bumper pull with a 9,000 lb electric winch on the front to move vehicles. Thus far I have just had a battery connected to the winch and would charge it when needed. It has proven a little inefficient.

 

What I'm thinking is I'm going to run a cable from positive side of the battery to the back bumper with a plug to connect it to the winch. Will this hurt the trucks electrical system in any way? Where would be the best place to run the cable from? I'm planning on putting a master kill on the cable just for safety.

Do it right and run a circuit breaker, heavy enough cables, and a quick plug in connector. Should not hurt electrical system if done right.

routed it around fuse box

down inner fender and along frame with body harness to quick disconnect

also power winch up front

Where can you find good battery cable at a decent price? My local auto parts store wanted like $5 a foot for the stuff, so the project got put on hold temporarily. If that's the going rate, I'm just going to have to take the plunge, so to speak.

My buddy runs a pair of battery and they just charge off thr aux power on the 7 pin

Quality cable is expensive. And don't skimp on something as high power as a winch.
