TPMS and higher pressures

I have aftermarket wheels and tires that I need to add the TPMS sensors too. They are 33 inch tires that I was running about 50 psi. I'm curious if I need to purchase special tpms sensor to show the higher pressures? In additon will the tpms monitor system say the pressure is to high, hence defeating the whole installation of these to eliminate the warning lights.

2014 Silverado

Thanks,

I put the stock wheels and tires on during the winter. The salt around here eats the aftermarket wheels. The dealer said the stock tpms sensors are $48 a piece. I just now wonder if any 2014 owners have succesfully had their computer reprogrammed for the higher pressures.

If they're the same TPMS system as the 900 series trucks, then you can get them reset. The system is set to look for a 'magic number' of PSI, and won't trip the light until you get too far away from that number. For example, if the magic number is 35 psi, then you can probably run anywhere between 25 and 45 without having problems. My old '09 came with the factory 20's that called for 35 PSI with a max of 44. Then I put some 10 ply BFG's (with a max PSI of 80) on it. I ran 40 PSI in them when it was empty, and didn't have a problem. When I bumped the rears up to 55 for towing, the TPMS freaked out. So, I had the dealer set the 'magic number' to 45 PSI, so I could run 38-40 when empty, and 50-55 when towing without any problems.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I should have mentioned my summer tires are 34" which are think are 8 or 10 ply. Does anyone know if you have to go with factory TPMS sensors to have them reset at the dealer? Now it was also mentioned some wheels don't Accept tpms sensors either.
