Torsion bar help please.

Ok I have a 2000 1500 silverado 4x4. The driver side torsion bar was really weak so I went to the junk yard and told them what I had and they sold me a used pair, well after battling mine for a couple hours getting them out of the key way, I matched them up and realized the ones they sold me were a few inches too short wth, by then it was too late now I have to put the old bars back in there ugh, so my question is, what years will fit my pickup? Is there a heavier duty bar that I can buy?

Rancho makes a replacement Torsion bar, that handles torsion better. Other then that, they have to be same body style, and drivetrain (4wd/2wd).

I tried looking for those and didn't have any luck finding them.

Does anybody know who carries aftermarket torsion bars ?

Weak, ? Buy new instead of used weak bars or have Z height checked first .

 

Who diag'd the weak bar ?

The driver side is almost maxed out while the pass side is only half way up, I can move the key with a regular c clamp so I'm thinking it's weak. As far as new ones go I don't have $400 to buy a new oem set.

I want more height in the front cranked all the way up I can't get barely a half inch off the stops. I was wandering if it would help to turn the bar around

No cheap fix here... If they really are that weak you will need to go buy a set of new ones unfortunately. Why put a set of used, and subsequently weaker ones in there?

Get a kit then cranking your bars up wears on them hard and ruins ride quality

Well went to local junk yard and got a set of the Heavy Duty bars and a new key for $40. I think it was worth the money if they work out.
