KyleTalbot
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone had any clues on how to open a 2014 sierra's headlight without cutting around the lens. I've done a lot of research and come up empty handed. I've considered baking the headlight but I am uncertain if this is possible with the LED's and wiring unable to be removed? I want to paint the Chrome housing of the headlight black, I think it will really make my truck look different from most '14 sierra's any tips will help Thanks
fondupot
The only write up I've seen is where the guy dremel's around the lens. Not sure if there is any other way.

Its the only way I've seen that's demonstrated, trying to avoid cutting it open (seems like a lot of work and big mess) I Bake all my headlights in the oven.. 275 degree for 7 minutes Do you think by baking the headlight it won't damage the LED's and the wiring to them? This would be my only concern doing it this method.

Only remove those little screws that holding the headlight housing and the lense together before baking it...

draino
What temp and how long? How difficult once you had them warm to pull the lense off? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
KyleTalbot
I will post pics once their completely assembled. I put them in at 220 for 8 in just like block8head said, worked fine. Used a screw driver to slowly pry the sides off the lens. In total I had to reinsert the first light into the oven 5 time, first time doing it. Second light was only 3 times, it really wasn't that difficult just a little patience.

draino
Awesome this is great news, seems like the black sealent they used was pretty hard, last thing I wanted to do was cut the headlights up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
KyleTalbot
At first I thought the glue was gonna be too hard to do it, but it does take a little persuasion and some force to get in there. Extremely happy with the result i think it looks so much better than with the chrome. Also very happy that I didn't have to cut them everything went together super easy and like a glove. Let me know what you guys think, and ask away if you have any questions. Before After
