Better gas mileage on my 2014

Recommended Posts

I put bigger tires on my 2014 and it went from 16-18 mpg to 12-15 on average,

. Is there anything I can do besides smaller tires to get better mpg? Does any know or have done programmers for a gas engine truck and do they work?

Did you have the truck reset for the bigger tires? Your mileage will be off unless it's set up for the new size tires. From what I've seen here BlackBear Performance tuning is the way to go if you want to tune your truck.

the old school stff used to save fuel using bigger tread.

A tuner today is needed.

Rpms down for same goals... not sure what is tuned, maybe timing ramp.

I have a need for a similar answer, before I get to swapping things.

Saying you put on bigger tires is a very generalized statement. Did you go from 31'' tires to 33's? To 35's, 37's, what?

You shouldn't see too big of a hit until you go over 33s. Also keep in mind, tire weight plays a large factor if you do a lot of stop and go driving. If you went from 45 pound tires to 70 pound tires, you added a ton of unsprung rotating mass. Your engine now has to turn extra weight that was not there before.

The price of cool aint cheap.
