Yesterday, I traded my 2014 RAM for the truck I should have gotten in the first place, a 2014 GMC 1500 All Terrain. I left the dealership and about 15 minutes later, ended up involved in an accident. A young man driving a jeep in front of me didn't see a stopped car waiting to make a left hand turn, and I didn't see that there was any car in front of the jeep. Next thing I know, he hits his brake and within a half second plows into the stopped car. I realize that I'm not likely to stop in time, so I move to the right and just as I get along side him, for one reason or another, his jeep jumps to the right and nails me, knocking me into a bank. Fortunately everyone was ok and there were no injuries, but I can't even express how pissed off I was. This is the second time this has happened to me in a new truck. I have the worst luck ever...

Here's the before and after pictures:

AllTerrainBum I feel your pain. Bought my 2014 Silverado on May 22 and on May 28 a guy at a gas station backing out of a parking space backed into me. Should be getting my truck from the body shop tomorrow.

I was following with a 2 second gap as I usually do, and if he'd just simply slammed on his brakes, it would have been no problem to stop in time. The issue was that he came to an immediate stop because he hit the car, barely even hit his own brakes. So even with a two second rule there just wasn't going to be enough distance to stop in that circumstance and which is why I braked and veered to the right. If his jeep hadn't have jumped to the right, I would have been ok. Should I have been further back, sure, hind sight being what it is ;)

As for the door, yeah, it pulled away at the top by about 2". So I have a two inch gap all around the front, top and right edges of the door window frame. The other sad part is that I needed to take this truck on vacation this week, to the Outerbanks on the four wheel drive beach. Now I have to get the insurance situation straightened out and get them to provide a like for like rental.

I got an estimate from a very good auto body shop that has done all of my previous work, and feel pretty confident they will get it back together like new. The estimate was for about 6-7K. They might even have it done by the time I get back from vacation. Hope so, then this will all just seem like a bad dream...

Good news today. The at-fault driver's insurance is going to take care of everything. Truck goes to the auto-body tomorrow and with luck will be as good as new when I get back from vacation. Insurance is also getting me a Silverado for a rental for vacation. Crisis averted...

I heard of people having a regular restaurant they go to but you got a regular body shop that does all your work.
