I guess it depends distance of race. 1/4 mile I'm thinking it could be a very close race with one in my truck but I would bet on the Lightning still edging. They typically ran mid to high 13's stock. I'm hoping to acheive some high 13's outta mine.

I was lucky enough to have a 94 impala ss new and in 95 when I learned they were only going to make them for 3 years I put it up and bought a 94 z28. The car and driver test for the impala was 15 in the 1/4 mile stock. mine ran a 15.50. The Z 28 was according to car and driver was 14.7 mine ran a 13.5 stock. My 06 Trailblazer SS was 14.2 car and driver said 13.5. You just don't know till you run them. Back in 1974 I had a 318 Barracuda with a three speed stick and a 370 rear end. I just added a high rise intake 650 holley and a set of cheater slicks and ran high 14s. Ok im rambling now, the point is they are a guide I woulnt bet the farm on their numbers.

C&D must have had a dinger on that TBSS! I don't recall ever seeing anyone run 13's stock outta one on the boards or at my local tracks. They had so much damn Torque Management! LOL. Your Z was quick! There were a couple of those quick LT1 cars. Most ran high 13's to low 14's. Then along came the LS.. Mid 13's fairly easy with a few running lower. My first sight of an LS1 at the track was a 98 Model Z 6speed run 13.0's with just a Filter removed. It was nuts. We were mesmerized! :omg:

The funny part was we went to a used car lot called mustangs unlimited to buy a mustang. Sitting in the back of the lot was the Z28. The car had been wrecked had a bad paint job builder title and only 10k miles on it. We test drove it, check engine light was on tires were bald but it ran like hell. I convinced my wife ( it was going to be her DD) that what ever was wrong with it I could handle. We paid 6K for it drove it home. This was in 95 for a 94 Z28 with a builders title. The light was on because the silencer tube was gone, I plug it put tires on it. It used a quart of oil every 2500 miles, needed a coil at 30K miles, a cat at 60K miles. My son got it at 60K miles and we sold it to one of his buddies at 130K miles. Other than a trans mount every now and then the car was trouble free. We had it 7 years the only car we had longer was the 94 impala, which we put up. I ended up trading it for a new Camaro for my son to go to collage in for TTand L.

I'd say the Lightning would win. I can't remember the last time I saw a stock Lightning though. When I had my awd Trailblazer SS I would look love catching a light with a Lightning. With just an intake and tune that TBSS would run 13.08, and with awd, it was pretty hard to beat at a light.

Depends on the truck and options but Lightning should have it covered. I had a 2003 with a heavy tonneau cover that ran 13.6's all day long stock. I had a fiend that ran 13.2's with his all stock. With basic mods it doesn't take much to get them in the 12's and little more to run 11's. Both are great trucks just built for different purposes.
