My bumper got dinged and now the Service Parking Assist message stays on in the DIC. You can touch the checkmark each time to turn it off but it comes back on each time you start the car. Took it to the dealer and was told I had to replace the whole bumper because one sensor was not pointing straight. I don't want to spend a couple thousand on a ding in the bumper. I took it to another dealer and they said the same thing. They wouldn't tell me how to disable the message. There has to be a way.
I replaced the sensor. Didn't help. I unplugged the whole harness from the main harness. Didn't help.
I pulled fuse 20 removed the battery lead to reset the system and that kept the message from appearing, but fuse 20 also controls the tail gate lift so I need to have that.
Does anyone know how I can disable the message. If you can do it by pulling the fuse, you must be able to do it by finding the wire that goes to the fuse and removing that. However, I can't find that wire.
Thanks for your thoughts.
