2014 trailer wiring harness

Recommended Posts

Fellas, if you haven't been able to tell by now, I'm not a truck guy.

I try to google, I try to search, and I its like a foreign language to me. Wanna talk about AR-15's or suppressors or 3 gun competitions? Now that's the language I speak.

Anyways, I got a 2014 Silverado, it has the trailer towing package as far as I can tell (has the trailer button on the gear shifter).

I bought a reese receiver hitch off autoanything. It was a lot cheaper shipped than anything I could find locally, I can install it no problem.

The wiring harness is something different. My truck is wired for it, as far as I can tell. I will be towing a tiny lawn mower/fourwheeler/ranger trailer and a boat.

This is what the bumper and the stuff under it looks like.... What do I need to complete it?

Links are always appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

First, if you do not have a trailer hitch, you do not have the Trailer Towing Package. The button on the gear shift is called Tow/Haul Mode which manages the shift points for better trailering.

"The Trailer Towing Package includes automatic locking rear differential, trailer hitch platform, integrated 7-pin and 4-pin connectors. " from the 2014 Silverado sales brochure.

You bought the trailer hitch receiver, so you should be all set there as long as it bolts up OK. The easiest way to complete the wiring is to get the integrated 7/4 pin plug. It snaps into the wiring jack in your picture and fills up the hole completely. The plug actually is 2 plugs in one - 7 pin round and 4 pin flat. Here is what it looks like...left of license plate...

I hope this helps.post-106333-0-59749000-1406086887_thumb.jpg
