Also make sure neutral safety switch is working properly. Try putting shifter in neutral and see if it cranks over. If you are not getting any noise from starter at all, it usually means the starter is not getting the signal to crank over(12v applied to purple wire at starter).

What happens to the dome light when you try to crank engine over? Does it dim, go out, or no change at all. You can also try turning headlights on and see what effect trying to crank engine has on brightness.

Do not fall for the "but battery is new" logic. New parts come with a warranty for one reason, sometimes new parts are bad. Verify voltages while sitting, while cranking(or attempting to crank), while head lights are on, etc..

As already stated, check all battery cables, at both ends, for connection tightness and cleanliness. Check the actual connection of the cable end to the actual cable. Sometimes they will corrode under insulation at the crimp, especially the aluminum or soft metal ends of cables.

When was the last time this engine ran? Does it turn over if you put a socket on the balancer bolt and turn engine manually with long bar and socket?

We have been driving this sub for a while, a few days back this started happening, we went out to eat and it had trouble cranking, finally started, with old battery, but then we came home and the next day nothing would crank, no sound no nothing, we already knew it was time for a new battery so we put one in, as we drained the old one to try to start it. I am no mechanic by any means but I just want to get this darn thing running again. LOL. it raining out today we live right by the beach so maybe something has corroded along the way, as it sits out in some nasty weather here. cant find where the darn starter is.?

You need to first be consistent on what you mean when you say not cranking. You said it would not start, but was cranking initially, and it finally did start. You drove truck home, and parked it. Next day it would not crank, no sound. Then you say you replaced the battery because it was time for a new one, and that you drained the battery trying to start it. If there is no noise, or not cranking, that cannot kill the battery, it is not cranking over.

Not knowing where the starter is will cause issues trying to help you. Diagnosing is fairly easy if you have some knowledge of how engines work. Not knowing even the very basics will end up taking weeks longer to diagnose over the internet. First we have to teach you the basics.

Using the logic of changing a part because you have seen that part fail before is a very expensive way to fix something. In my years of being a mechanic I have seen pretty much every possible reason for an engine to not crank over. That would be a lot of parts to throw at it just because I saw that part fail before.

BTW, the starter is bolted to bottom of engine, with its nose inserted into trans bell housing so it can drive the ring gear on the flex plate. When you turn the key on, do the bells and lights all come on? If not, then you have a bad connection between battery and engine, on either positive or negative lead.
