I'm from Illinois and we own a 2004 2500 HD 6.0, a 2008 Colorado I5 and a 2012 45th Anniversary SS convertible. I found this site in search of on going drive train issues with the 2500. I've replaced the driver bearing hub with a TImKin and now have an extreme hum under the cab.

This noise started a few months ago when I reached 65 MPH or so and has progressively been starting at lower and lower speeds. It has been maintaining this hum at around 45 for about 3 weeks now. I have been unable to use the 4x4 for the past 2 winters because of a severe banging noise when ever torque is applied. Where the drive shaft enters the transfer case from the trans there is play up and down and in and out. I can shake the drive shaft at this location with ease, banging the sides of the transfer case. So my guess is that I need to get a new transfer case or a rebuild kit. I don't have the an interest in rebuilding my own but am interested in buying a rebuild.

My question's are:

1. Does anyone know where to get a decent rebuild?

2. How much should I pay?

3. How difficult will it be?

Thank You From Illinois,

BillyT
