Song tagging help

I've only had my truck for a few weeks now so it's still learning. But how exactly does song tagging work? I was listening to XM when a song I really like came on. So I went into the menu and tagged the song. A message popped up saying that the song would transfer when an iPod is hooked up. How does this work? I haven't hooked up an iPod. But I have attached my iPhone by Bluetooth, USB, and auxiliary. But I can't tell that anything has happened. What does it mean by transfer?

It has tagged the song, but you won't see anything until you hook up your iPod, iPhone, etc. to sync with iTunes on a computer. It will then pop up a message asking if you want to purchase the tagged song.
