popping noise in dash

Recommended Posts

I have been hearing a little popping noise in the dash. I believe it only does it when I am turning. Wonder if anyone else hears a noise like this?

I traded a 2008 Silverado for this one and the 08 windshield cracked a couple months after I had it and then a couple years later the dash cracked by passenger air bag. I am hoping that something like this isn't fixing to happen with the 2014

I hear it all the time. Mine does it on rough roads. Just waiting for it to crack. A lot of the popping comes from the dash.

There are a few threads around here about it. Only a couple cracks.

Ok the rocks hitting the windshield is what I have. On another thread there was someone that said it is from the radio around the control knobs. The next day I was talking about this with my wife while out driving and went to turn the radio back up. I not only heard the rock sound I felt it with my hand on the radio. I guess it's from the metal and plastic around the radio expanding at different temps.

I have found mine does this mostly when the center stack bezel around the radio knobs is expanding and contracting due to temp change inside the truck. Sounds just like a rock hitting the windshield. Very annoying. looks like were all experiencing the same thing.

Yeah. It does it. Not as bad. But ,as it warms up and expands "POP".I can not think of a way to prevent this other than remove the bezel and clearance it. Maybe with a fine file or sand paper.

:dunno: But I wouldn't want to try it without a spare.

Funny thing. just after I posted this, the Evening sun is hitting my metal storm door causing it to do the same thing.

Instead of sanding and making clearance what about a thin layer of foam or felt paper between the bezel?

Yeah, It is just my first instinct to start carving something up when there is an issue. Maybe I need counseling. :dunno:
