Some states allow " tinting " of tail lights providing that you keep reverse lights clear. I know theres a paint (VRC?) that we did a buddy's Caliber SRT-4 tail lights in and it looked good. I personally like to keep fastory lenses on, keep them clean, and find the brightest bulbs I can for them. Just my preference though.

I hate tinted tail and or head lights. All it does it makes it harder for vehicles to see you and or increase the chance of being rear ended because people take it to far most of the time.

haha i guess some people think they are funny as some people actually understood what i was talking about. Im talking about the chrome, smoke, color matched, etc. I KNOW the LIGHTS have to red/ amber per the law but i'm talking about the housing and lenses and plastic covers ....examples below. Thanks for the sarcastic comments though i chuckled at a few.

yea I had some recons in a 2009 but i was thinking of saving some money and just buy some good quality LED bulbs to put in. But i have to say i have seen some pretty cool LED replacements. I just dont know what options will look good for my truck. I dont like the blackout but i was looking into the lightly smoked one.

I would try to get a clear set with Red LEDs and see if a shop can shoot a thin coat of paint that matches your truck onto the tails. Keeping it thin will make it look good when lights are off but not block visibility. Some people do this with black to tint and it looks better than an actual smoke or tinted lens
