2000 Silverado E Brake Cable Help!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

New 2000 1500 owner here from Minnesota.

When I got the truck a few weeks ago i noticed it has a broken ebrake cable. I have the replacement cables (both front and middle cable were broken) but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the ebrake pedal in order to connect the cable to the pedal itself.

I think I need to remove the pedal in order to connect the cable.

I searched all over and could not find how to install the front cable itself, only how to adjust it.

Thanks!

Jeff

If you need any corresponding tech info just ask....

attachicon.gifCable2.pdf

Thanks for the schematics. That definitely gives me a better idea of what Im looking at.

So if I understand this right, there are 3 bolts I need to remove and then I can remove the pedal and install the cable.

I read somewhere it helps to remove the fuse panel in order to see the bolts.

I was able to remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the e brake switch and I pulled the pedal right out and hooked up the e brake cable. It was a hard job to do because its so cramped in there with little room to remove bolts and such.

Now I have a good amount of tension in the e brake cable but it still doesn't fully engage. Pretty sure I just gotta pull the rear wheels and do the adjustment back there now.

Thanks guys!
