Anyone encountered CA's new wait period

Recommended Posts

Apparently if you already bought a gun, the 10 day wait period is waived. Im not sure what to expect from it. I am in the market for a new gun, just dont want to go in expecting one thing to happen and something different going on

:wtf: You're scaring me Chris. 10 days from today vs. maybe 6 months?

Im lost on what you said. I want to buy a new handgun, but it isnt an immediate purchase. Under the new supposed ruling since I already purchased a gun in California the 10 day "cool off" period is waived. I just want something different to shoot and not looking to buy until after this is changed.

Chris,

My understanding is that the wait period is not waived, just the mandatory 10 day period. They will still do a background check. If it takes less than 10 days to do the check, they will release the gun to you when it is completed.

At least that is how I understood it. But I do not think it is in effect yet.

My understanding of how it will work is this. You have to own firearms already. You will need a Certificate of Eligibility or a CCW permit for no 10 day wait. The Judge in the case gave the State 180 days to implement the system. You can read more here .http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=514592
