My cousin mark has a 98 ext cab with a 5.7 z71 4wd. Im not sure what the rar is im guessing a 3.73. My 2009 silvy is an xfe crew cab with the 5.3 ,3.08 ,6 speed, and 2wd. He says his truck is probably alot faster than my 09 but not my 14.

I bet even with the high 3.08 it is still quicker the 6 speed seems to have a much better first gear. And feels much stronger on the upper end. What do you think?

I had a 98 ext cab with a 5.7 and 3.73 gears. Was stock exhaust for exhaust and a K&N intake kit. My '14 has a 5.3 and 3.08 gears and my '14 feels faster, even with 3.08s. The 5.3 has much better performance and the '14 is also lighter. I know you're talking about an 09 but I don't think there's a huge difference between an 09 and '14. His 98 might take you off the line since he probably has 3.73s but you'll catch up to him. Plus your truck probably has traction control while the 98 doesn't.

My friend had an 88 5.7 with an open diff. He prolly coulda of got me off the line if he had a posi hahaha he definitely had way more low end than I

Both my old 98 and my current truck have the G80 rear end. The 98 having 3.73 gears felt like it came off the line a lot better. My '14 with the damn 3.08 gears seems like it takes longer to get up to speed but once it does it start to accelerate pretty good. I plan on replacing the gears to 3.73, but not sure when. With 3.08 it just feels like it doesn't have balls lol. The exhaust seemed to have opened it up better than it was before though. Or maybe that's in my mind because it's a lot louder lol.

Maybe you should get 4.10's if you want some more performance. Obviously you need to regear both axles

I think I'll be fine with 3.73s, I don't plan on lifting it or anything. Plus I still want it to be decent on the interstate. I know having the 6 speed that 4.10s would do better on the interstate than my old 98 4 speed would, but I think 4.10 would be a little much for a truck that won't be lifted or go off-road. And ya regearing both should go without saying lol.
