Installed Corsa Sport on my '14 6.2 - not impressed

Recommended Posts

I just had a Corsa Sport exhaust installed on my '14 Denali with the 6.2L last week. The truck now sounds like a muscle car and is a lot louder than I expected. On a cold start-up it will definitely wake up neighbors.

Previously, I had an '07 Avalanche with a Corsa. I bought that Corsa used so wasn't certain whether it was the Sport or Touring. It had a nice rumble on start up and I would forget that it was there unless I had the passenger side windows down. That's what I was hoping for I bought the Sport.

The Sport on my Denali is definitely heard from inside with the windows up when accelerating up to speed or anytime you get over 2K rpms. Stomp on it and it sounds like a muscle car running down the 1/4.

There's one big problem though - I get a very annoying drone when the engine switches over to 4 cylinder. If you're off the gas it's fine but when you lightly press the throttle, for a half to a few seconds, you get a very noticeable drone. It gets really irritating after a while as the only way to stop it is to let off the throttle altogether or press it down more to get back into V8 mode.

Anybody know if any of the other mufflers have this same problem?

Yes my 2014 6.2 droned terribly with the addition of the MBRP cat back single when in v4 mode. So I bought a diablo tuner and tuned it out. On another note, my mileage stayed the same with the truck being in v8 mode. Go figure.

Maybe the GM borla kit would have been more of what you were looking for.

Most mufflers without a flapper valve are gonna do that in V4 mode. Thats why I had my truck tuned to have AFM turned off. I also have the Corsa Sport. My truck is a 5.3, but it sounds great when cruising.

I got the same system as you not too long ago. Probably would have bought the touring system if it had been available because I didn't want it too loud being 43 years old. I love the deep, throaty sound and get a lot of compliments on it but it is not the system to get if you want to keep it real mellow. The v4 flutter annoys me to death but the wife thinks it's fine. She actually drives it all the time since we got the exhaust on. I'm working on getting a BBP tune with the V4 disabled and will be much happier without the flutter.

I'll buy your Corsa Sport system from you if you still have it available....

Installed mine here with a buddy two weeks ago with the black tips, damn I love it. Silent but deadly if laid down. The black tips really set the iridium metallic off, glad I opted out on the basic chrome tips. I highly suggest anyone with iridium to get them.

Planning to post video soon when I actually have time.
